I am currently expanding on the painting side of my constant intersection with art and theatre by showing paintings in London recently in Art Below Regent's Park 2013, Art of Angel 2014, the Summer Show at the West Bank Gallery, Art Below Pimlico and the Framer's Gallery, and soon in Art of Angel 2015 and at the Candid Arts Trust.
'Elevation' is inspired by photos I took of rooftop statues in St. Petersburg, Russia, from the dome observation deck of St. Isaac's Cathedral. It speaks to me of Russia's past and present turmoil, and the hope to rise above.Theatre background:
Lisa Cody-Rapport is a Resident Artist in Design in the Theatre Arts Department at Rollins College in Winter Park, FL. Previously she was a Lecturer at Tufts University in Boston, MA, and worked as a Show Finisher in the Hollywood Studios Scenic Shop for Walt Disney World in Orlando, FL. She holds a BFA in Theatre Design from West Virginia University, and an MFA in Theatre Design from the University of Connecticut.
Lisa's professional theatre design experience in set and costumes includes regional work at the Merrimack Repertory Theatre, Connecticut Rep.'s Nutmeg Theatre, The Worcester Foothills Theatre, The Underground Railway Theatre, The Barter Theatre, Florida Stage, and Orlando Shakespeare Theatre. Her work in NY includes Off-Off Broadway costumes for The Blue Heron Theatre and summer stock sets at The Depot Theatre in Westport. Lisa designed the costumes and ran wardrobe on location for the film Who Wants to Marry My Husband? (Echelon Studios) and the 1990 national tour for The National Theatre of the Deaf's The Odyssey, as well as BHT's Viva Cummings! for the Caracas International Theatre Festival in 1992.
Lisa has painted scenic and murals for The American Stage Festival, The Annie Russell Theatre, Disney's Hollywood Studios Scenic Shop, The Hard Rock Cafe in Houston, The Hard Rock Hotel in Orlando, and the Orlando Science Center, as well as in New England and NYC.
